What kind of audio formats do you accept?
We accept most formats for audio/video, but we prefer to not work with cassette tapes because of the inferior quality to digital recordings, and we must digitize the audio before we can begin work. Although, if you need a cassette tape transcribed, we will do our best to work with you.
Can you produce documents using my company's letterhead/style/formatting?
Yes. Send us a template as part of your supporting documentation and will we be able to use it.
Why are time coding rates more than normal rates?
Due to the work that is involved in time coding. Time coding requires special programs and takes longer than a standard transcript.
How to submit audio/video files and receive completed transcripts?
Complete the form on the Project Specification page and Cricket Transcription & Proofreading will contact you with access information to our secure transfer site where you can upload your files safely and securely. For small files, you may be able to send it as an attachment in an email. To receive your completed transcript, you can request it be delivered to you as an attachment in an email or you can receive a notification when your transcript is ready to be retrieved from our secure transfer site.
How to submit documents needing to be proofread?
Basically, the same way as sending and retrieving audio/video files. The documents can be emailed as an attachment or uploaded to our secure file transfer site and retrieved the same way.
What about handwritten documents?
We transcribe handwritten documents at a rate of $2.00 per handwritten page which may translate into a different number of typed pages. These rates may vary depending on the length of the document and the legibility of the document. You can always submit a sample page for a free estimate.
Proofreading handwritten documents are rated as per 300 words, legibility of the document, and the amount of research needed. For difficult to read penmanship, the rate is $2.00 added to the per 300 words rate system outlined on the Proofreading page.
What about errors and omissions?
All transcripts are proofread twice before being delivered. In the case of five or fewer flagged items (see Transcription Guidelines in the PDF section), we will make every effort to accommodate your request for corrections at no charge. However, we can not be responsible for bad audio, talking over someone, someone too far from the microphone, background noise, etc. If large sections of the audio/video (more than 5 flagged items) were unintelligible, we will only make corrections on a payment basis. Price will depend on the amount of re-work required.
How do we get this ball rolling?
Simply complete the Project Specifications page, Cricket Transcription & Proofreading will contact you via email or phone with your log-in instructions to the file transfer site, upload your files, Cricket Transcription & Proofreading will contact you when your project has been completed. It's that simple.
What about payment methods?
All payments are due immediately upon receipt of completed projects. An invoice will be sent with your transcript/document. We prefer payments via PayPal for the first job that Cricket Transcription & Proofreading completes for you. It's fast, safe, and allows you to pay using any credit card even if you don't have an account. However, we also accept checks and money orders.
What if the audio length is different from the actual length once uploaded?
We will contact you with any discrepancies and work will not begin on your job until the appropriate action is taken.
What are your hours of operation?
We work Monday - Friday 8 am-5 pm. Turnaround times are based on business days (Monday - Friday), excluding major US holidays. If a project is submitted on Friday at 3:00 pm, it will be ready on the following Monday by 3:00 pm. We will try to accommodate extreme emergencies at an extra charge.
What is the guarantee of my project's confidentiality?
This is taken with extreme seriousness. All Cricket Transcription & Proofreading clients are treated with the same level of confidentiality as outlined in HIPAA regulations regarding privacy and any Code of Conduct that you will find in the law enforcement fields. If you need a confidentiality agreement, there is one available for download in the PDF section. You'd just need to download, sign, date, and email it back to us. We will do the same and email it to you with the current date, so we will both have signed copies. First and foremost, we value your trust and everything we do is designed to respect that and foster our desire to forge long-term relationships with our clients. We never share or sell client information.
